• Stratech signs agreement with US government agency to commercialize a fully automated vehicle and driver clearance system
  • iVACS™ is the heart of this system for surveillance and access control
  • This technology collaboration will thrust Stratech's penetration into the vast US Homeland Security market of more than 47,000 critical facilities
  • Strategy to go global beginning to payoff
SINGAPORE, August 15, 2005 - Following the recent breakthrough into the US market with its Homeland Security Technologies, Stratech Systems Limited ("Stratech") continues to break new ground by inking an agreement with a US government agency to commercialize the next generation, fully automated vehicle and driver surveillance and access control system.

The clearance system enables fast access to information about people and vehicles entering controlled facilities or installations, improving security and throughput at entry points. Stratech's intelligent Vehicle Access Control System, iVACS™, the world's first vehicle undercarriage surveillance system with automatic foreign object detection with alarm capability, unsurpassed vehicle undercarriage image quality and network intelligence, will be the heart of the system. In the areas of driver identification, the system would involve technologies such as barcode scanning, radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, facial recognition, and fingerprint recognition. Vehicle identification would be done through license plate and image recognition. Meanwhile, vehicle surveillance would be conducted through weigh-in-motion and undercarriage surveillance while barriers, bollards, gates and light signals will complete the physical access control set-up.

"This technology collaboration brings us yet another step closer towards our vision and mission of deploying iVACS™ in every secured facility, in which more than 47,000 critical facilities have already been identified that include chemical and power plants, airport perimeters, gas and LNG storage facilities, refineries, dams and pipelines.", said Dr. David K.M. Chew, Executive Chairman.

This technology collaboration again underscores the Group's technology leadership which has led to sales of its Homeland Security products and technologies in the United States, United Kingdom, the Middle East, Australia and Thailand. The Group's strategy to focus on going global has begun to bear fruit, evident in an increase in the revenue contribution of foreign contracts from18% to 38% of total turnover compared to a year ago. Riding on these initial successes, the Group intends to leverage on the successful implementation of these initial contracts and use these installations as reference sites in various locations to win more contracts. Going forward, the Group anticipates that the contribution to its revenue from international business and product sales will increase, and as such, will continue to focus its sales and market development efforts globally.

The Group will continue to focus its marketing efforts on selling its products and technologies in the global market and ramping up revenue. Emphasis will be put on selling our products and technologies in the US, where the Group has established an office earlier this year to tap on the growing multi billion-dollar Homeland Security market.
