Main Board-listed Stratech goes Global, wins HK$63.59M Hong Kong Immigration Border Crossing Contract
  • Contract solidifies Stratech's strategy to expand internationally in the fast-growing Homeland Security industry
  • Stratech to deliver world’s first fully Automated Passenger Clearance System and fully Automated Vehicle Clearance System
Singapore , 31st May 2004 – Main Board-listed Stratech Systems Limited ("Stratech") has crossed yet another milestone by clinching a prestigious Hong Kong Immigration (“HKIMMD”) contract. Led by ATAL Technologies Ltd (“ATAL”), one of the largest Engineering Groups in Hong Kong and Greater China, Stratech is part of the consortium, which includes Electronic Data Systems Corporation (“EDS”), a world-class information technology solutions provider, that has secured a large-scale border-crossing project worth HK $594 million.

Leveraging on its intelligent Vision and intelligent Transport Systems technologies, Stratech will develop and support the heart of the world’s first fully Automated Passenger Clearance System (“APCS”) and fully Automated Vehicle Clearance System (“AVCS’). Riding on its strategy to replicate its technologies overseas, Stratech is exporting its expertise in building high-security border crossing systems to Hong Kong . This, once again, solidifies Stratech’s position to expand internationally in the current fast-growing Homeland Security industry.

Stratech is developing and implementing the new system worth at least HK$37.44 million in multiple stages through July 2006, and is expected to complete about a third of the project by the fourth quarter of this year.  Stratech will continue to maintain it thereafter for a further nine years for at least another HK$26.15 million, thus bringing Stratech’s value of the contract to a sum total of at least HK$63.59 million. This contract is significant for Stratech as it further establishes its global presence in the provision of Homeland Security technologies and will contribute positively to the financial performance of Stratech.

"Stratech is proud to be awarded a major role in building the most advanced border crossing system in the world. Following the successful implementation of the Vehicle Entry/Exit Permit System (“VEPS”) for the Land Transport Authority (“LTA”) in April 2000, this contract marks yet another step forward for Stratech to provide a world-class border crossing Homeland Security system for the public sector.” said Dr. David K.M. Chew, Executive Chairman of Stratech.

“We want to take this opportunity to express our appreciation to the LTA to enable us realise our strategy of “cutting our teeth in Singapore and making our money overseas” and to the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (“IDA”) and International Enterprise Singapore (“IES”) for their much-valued support in helping us go global, and for appointing us the leader of the Transport and Homeland Security cluster for the Singapore Solutions Centre in China,” he added.
